Museum Machu Picchu
Site Museum Manuel Chavez Ballon, is located at km 112 of the railway, 1.7 km from the Village of Machu Picchu or Aguas Calientes. The museum is located at the foot of Machu Picchu Mountain, on one of the platforms that culminate under the Rio Urubamba.
The museum was reopened few years ago with the purpose of generating greater interest in the cultural and archaeological research. The museum provides a dynamic and modern exhibition in 7 stages; showing the beauty of the collection of artifacts, construction tools elaboradoradas copper and bronze mirrors, pins, needles and tweezers among other elements used in the Inca era. The exhibition of spectacular examples showing the innate ability in handling and stone quarrying. This collection of artifacts show how the Incas joined the Amazon and the Andes to achieve the livelihood of a vast empire as was the Inca Empire.
To reach the museum only has to cross the bridge ‘Ruins’ that cross the Urubamba River en route to Machu Picchu. The museum is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00 hrs.

The Museum Manuel Chavez Ballon presents a multimedia exhibition of excavations within the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and its surroundings.
The Botanical Garden has a wide variety of flora characteristic of the Andean jungle, the main function of this garden is to preserve the flora.
The spaces within the museum are small so you can not carry your luggage; at the entrance of the museum there are lockers where you can leave your belongings.
It is forbidden to take photos and / or record videos in showrooms.
In the botanical garden, take pictures is allowed.
