Buffet lunch options on the trip to Machu Picchu

The Tinkuy restaurant is the only one located next to the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. The rest of the restaurants are located in the town of Aguas Calientes. Consequently, it is there where most visitors decide to have lunch. The train station to return to Cusco is also in this town. To get from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu you must take a bus that takes 30 minutes to get there.

The Tinkuy restaurant is one of the best restaurants that you can visit on the trip to Machu Picchu. This is the restaurant belonging to the five-star Sanctuary Lodge hotel, the only one located next to the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. In other words, the restaurant can be visited after the visit to Machupicchu, walking just a few steps from the entrance and exit door of the archaeological site.

The Tinkuy offers various Peruvian and foreign dishes as well as salads, desserts, hot and cold drinks and more. They stand out: the ceviche, the stuffed cause, the pizzas, the coffee cakes, the variety of meats and more. Due to the pandemic, the buffet service was suspended until further notice. Instead, the Tinkuy restaurant offers a varied menu prepared with selected ingredients.

The Tinkuy restaurant menu offers various options for starters, main dishes and desserts. It has modern, spacious and comfortable facilities that are part of the Sanctuary Lodge hotel. Its Mediterranean salad stands out, the trout tiradito, the quinoa tabbouleh, the beef jerky, the Creole salted chicken or the grilled trout. As desserts, they offer chocolate cake, homemade ice cream or fresh fruit salad.

The Mapi restaurant

El Mapi is a tourist restaurant belonging to the prestigious 4-star Inkaterra hotel. The place is located in the town of Aguas Calientes, about 10 kilometers by road from the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. Visitors can have lunch there after their tour of Machu Picchu. Very close is the train station, to make the return trip to the city of Cusco.

The facilities at El Mapi are spacious and comfortable. The buffet lunch options are varied. They stand out: the trout ceviche, the salted loin, the stuffed cause, the house soups, the delicious diversity of salads, fresh fruits, wheat breads, cakes, hot drinks and more. The restaurant also offers a live music show.

El Mapi also reorganized its buffet lunch service as a result of the pandemic. Thus, its menu offers several starter options (Mediterranean salad or soups), main dishes (such as lomo saltado or trout ceviche), desserts and drinks. All dishes are prepared by experienced chefs who select the best ingredients from the Cusco region and the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

The Toto’s House restaurant

Toto’s House restaurant is famous for its location with beautiful views of the mountains and the Vilcanota River. It is located in front of the train tracks. Its specialty is not buffet food but it can be requested. In addition to this service, it offers a variety of pizzas, desserts, Peruvian food, international food, fusion food, coffees, craft beers and more. The gastronomic options there are very varied.

Toto’s House doesn’t just specialize in lunch. Its service also offers dinners and even a bar. The buffet lunch is offered from noon to 3 in the afternoon. It includes salads, house soup, pizzas, meats, fruits, potatoes, sauces, spaghetti, hot drinks and, of course, the famous ceviche.

The restaurant has a large two-story space. It has balconies overlooking the town of Aguas Calientes as well as the Vilcanota River and the surrounding mountains. Attention is good. Tourists like to try their pizzas, beers and homemade ice cream. This is one of the most famous restaurants in the town of Aguas Calientes.
