Entrance to Machu Picchu and discounts for visitors under 18 years of age
The purchase of the entrance ticket to Machu Picchu offers discounts for visitors under 18 years old. This applies for tickets: a) Machu Picchu Classic, b) Machu Picchu Classic Lower Terrace, c) Machu Picchu Classic Photo, d) Machu Picchu Lower Temples, e) Machu Picchu with Intipunku. To benefit from the discount, visitors must make their purchase with their valid identity card or passport. When entering Machu Picchu, the visitor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years of age. Children under 3 years old enter free of charge to Machu Picchu also showing their identity card or valid passport. If the tourist, in addition to being under 18, is a citizen of one of the countries of the Andean Community of Nations (Peru, Colombia, Ecuador or Bolivia), then the discount is even better. Some trekking routes are forbidden for visitors under 18 years of age: such as the route to Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu Mountain, the Inca Bridge, Huchuy Picchu and the Great Cavern.

- The new tickets to Machu Picchu are ten: (a) entrance Machu Picchu Classic Photo, (b) entrance Machu Picchu Classic, (c) entrance Machu Picchu Classic Lower Terrace, (d) entrance Machu Picchu Lower Temples, (e) entrance Machu Picchu with Huayna Picchu, f) entrance Machu Picchu with Mountain, g) entrance Machu Picchu with Huchuy Picchu, h) entrance Machu Picchu with Inca Bridge, i) entrance Machu Picchu with Intipunku and j) entrance Machu Picchu with Temple of the Moon (Great Cavern).
- All tickets offer one of the three new circuits in the archaeological site. Circuit 1 is the shortest one as it offers the visit to the House of the Guardian (classic photo). Circuit 2 allows the route through the main Inca constructions (Temple of the Sun, Main Temple, Temple of the 3 Windows, Sacred Rock, Water Mirrors, Sacred Fountains and Agricultural Sector). Meanwhile, circuit 3 allows the route through the temples of the lower part (Royal Tomb, Temple of the Sun, House of the Inca, Three Gates, Sacred Rock, Temple of the Condor, Sacred Fountains and Agricultural Sector).
- The tickets allow tourists of any age to make the circuit to Machu Picchu. However, the entrance to some tourist destinations, such as: Huayna Picchu Mountain, Machu Picchu Mountain, the Inca Bridge, Huchuy Picchu and the Great Cavern (Temple of the Moon), is not allowed for children under 18 years old. Therefore, if the visitor buys the ticket to one of these destinations, he/she will have to do only the circuit corresponding to Machu Picchu. He/she will not be able to do the trekking.

- Ticket Machu Picchu Classic – This ticket allows you to do circuit 2 in Machu Picchu. That is, it allows you to visit the main temples: House of the Guardian (classic photo), Temple of the Sun, Main Temple, Temple of the 3 Windows, Sacred Rock, Water Mirrors, Sacred Fountains and Agricultural Sector. It is available all year round. It is suitable for visitors of any age.
- Ticket Machu Picchu Classic lower terrace – This ticket allows you to do circuit 2 in Machu Picchu. It also allows you to visit the main temples in the archaeological site. It only differs from the ‘Classic Machu Picchu’ ticket in that the postcard photo is obtained a few meters below the Guardian’s House. It is available all year round. In addition, it offers the hike to the top of Intipunku (2 km route to the Sun Gate). It is the only trekking route in Machu Picchu suitable for tourists of all ages. The paths (qhapac ñan) are very safe. The route to Intipunku is only available from June 1 to October 15.

These are the admission tickets available for tourists over 18 years of age:
- Ticket Machu Picchu with Huayna Picchu – This ticket allows you to make the circuit 3 in Machu Picchu (route through the temples of the lower part). It also allows you to hike to the top of Huayna Picchu (2 kilometers route by stone stairs). This route is only available for visitors over 18 years old. The hike is available all year round.
- Ticket Machu Picchu with Mountain – This ticket allows you to do circuit 1 in Machu Picchu (the visit to the Guardian’s House where you get the postcard photo of Machu Picchu). It also allows you to hike to the top of the Machupicchu mountain (3 km route through trails and stone stairs). The hike can only be done by visitors over 18 years old. It is available all year round.
- Ticket Machu Picchu with Huchuy Picchu – This ticket allows you to do circuit 3 in Machu Picchu (route through the temples of the lower part). It also allows you to hike to the top of the small mountain, Huchuy Picchu (less than 1 kilometer route by stone steps). This hike is only available for visitors over 18 years old. The hike is available from June 1 to October 15.
