Main changes in tickets to Machu Picchu for high season

The Ministry of Culture changed some routes and added others. The main changes are the new exclusive routes for the high season. Now the high season will start from June 1 to October 15.

Ticket Huayna Picchu

It is another ticket that did not undergo major changes. This entrance ticket will allow you to climb to the top of Huayna Picchu. The hike takes approximately 2 hours. This destination is located taking a detour when following the route to Huayna Picchu or the Great Cavern. It is part of the Royal Circuit or Route. Ticket Inti Punku

The entrance with Machu Picchu + Inti Punku ticket is one of the entrances that opened for the high season. It has low capacity, but offers one of the best experiences. The route that connects the final stretch of the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. During the ascent you can see some other Inca constructions. Like the other panoramic routes it does not allow an entrance through Machu Picchu. The Inti Punku ticket has 4 schedules and 45 tickets per schedule, available daily.

6 things you should know about the price of the Ticket Machu Picchu

  • The Machu Picchu Ticket is nominal, this means that you must enter the full name, passport number, nationality and age of the person making the visit. The Machu Picchu Ticket can be used as many times as you wish on the date indicated on the ticket, respecting the entry and exit times of the Machu Picchu Archaeological Park.
  • Machu Picchu is also possible by hiring a tourism agency. The advantage of buying the ticket online is that you can do it on your own and managing your own itinerary.
  • Discounts are only possible by reserving the ticket with the necessary documentation (passport, identity document or university card).
  • Seniors do not have a special discount. They pay the normal adult ticket except for citizens of Peru or members of the Andean Community (Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia).
  • University students only access the discount with their valid university card. The ISIC card is not valid.
  • Children under 3 years old do not pay. To enter they must present their passport or identity document that certifies their age. They must also be accompanied by their father, mother or attorney-in-fact.

Other expenses that you must take into account apart from the Machu Picchu ticket

  • Transportation to Aguas Calientes by train is a separate cost. The other way to go to the Wonder of the World is through the Inca Trail or the Hydroelectric route.
  • The ascent to the entrance door is by bus. The other option is to do it on foot.
  • The entrance to the Inca City with an official tourist guide is mandatory. You can reserve one with an agency or do it at the door of the enclosure.

    Yes. Foreigners residing in these countries have access to the discount for being member citizens of CAN (Andean Community of Nations). They only have to make their respective reservation by sending a digital copy of their identity document or immigration card.

  • 3) Can I enter Machu Picchu on two different days with the same ticket?

    No. The ticket is only valid for the day and time shown on the ticket. In case you want to visit the Inca City on two different days, you must buy two tickets for those days.

    Yes. Any type of tax is already included in the cost of the ticket.

    No. The ticket is only sold online. Buying in Cusco runs the risk of not finding availability. Tickets are not sold at the gate of the enclosure.
